Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how HiveDash (“we”, “us”, “HiveDash”) collects, uses and protects your information when you use the HiveDash application and website (the “Service”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
1. Who we are
Controller: HiveDash. For any privacy question, contact us at privacy@hivedash.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details — your email address, and basic profile information from your sign-in provider if you use Google sign-in.
- Beekeeping content you create — apiaries, hives, inspection records, tasks, notes, and any photos or voice recordings you attach.
- Optional location — an apiary location you choose to enter or attach to a record.
Information collected automatically
- Technical & usage data — limited information needed to operate the Service, such as device and app-version details and basic activity used to keep the app working and synced.
- On-device storage — to work offline, the app stores your data locally on your device until it can sync.
3. How we use your information and our legal bases
We process personal data to:
- provide the Service, store your records and sync them across your devices — performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b));
- keep the Service secure, reliable and improved — our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f));
- handle features that need your permission, such as the camera, microphone or location — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.
4. Service providers we share data with
We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Supabase — database, authentication and hosting for your synced account data.
- Google — only if you choose Google sign-in, to authenticate you.
- Vercel — website hosting and privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics (aggregate page views; no advertising or cross-site tracking).
- Email delivery — to send account confirmation and password-reset emails.
5. Storage and retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the associated personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer to meet a legal obligation.
6. International data transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise these by contacting privacy@hivedash.app. You can also delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (More → Delete Account); this permanently erases your account and hive data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Cookies and local storage
The app and website use device storage to keep you signed in and to let the app work offline. The app keeps you signed in and stores your records on your device until they sync. Our website uses Vercel’s privacy-friendly analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites. We do not use advertising cookies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and update the date above; significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
